It’s strange how these days when you see a photo with a person dressed like that, your innate response usually is, “She’s a model and this is a fashion magazine, and that’s why they can dress abnormally like that,” which means, “She is not me and it is not my realm,” which is association by negation.

Remember the days when normal people like all of us would look at a fashion magazine, and believe that we can dress like one of them? Of course we don’t. We are too young. But take a look at the fashion magazines in the 50’s and 60’s, and then take a look at how people dress back then - the gap is less apparent. Fashion designers were not only avant-garde, they also devised a whole system of moving our civilization forward. They created new standards for shirts and dresses, and then we adopted them.

Now take a step back to look around the world we are living in. Who dresses like people in fashion magazines, except Lady Gaga? Even supermodels themselves don’t dress like that on a daily basis. I’m not saying that the fashion designers these days are necessarily at fault (though they create exorbitantly expensive emperors’ clothes nobody can afford), I think that our society is just not interested in the new and advancing forward anymore:

We don’t believe anymore in fantasy and dreams, but only in crappy T-shirts and jeans.

Panic blog unearthed some graphic design gold. These box art are so modern even 20+ years later, and they unified the brand identity without sacrificing individuality of each game. And look, the details on each box art is impeccable - it’s not just some one-off cheap illustration.

How many game company managed to do that? Maybe Maxis before EA acquisition, or Final Fantasy series by Square-Enix?

Now we are on the hunt of who the art director was behind all these.
